Personal Attributes Valued By Employers (P1)

Specific Attributes

• Experience - Employers value employees with experience of the job advertised because it shows they are capable of doing the job and know what is expected of them from previous jobs or experiences.

• Health and Safety- An employee with health and safety knowledge is valued by employers because it shows that the employer is competent and can be relied on to act safely within the workplace. For example in many jobs you have to lift heavy objects so  the employee will know how to safely do it without hurting themselves or others.

General Attributes

• Planning Skills - Planning skills are needed because it helps to keep organised and allows employees to think ahead and if you was working in a programming job you may my writing some script to put together with others so you would have to plan how much you need to do.

• Verbal Skills - Verbal skills are valued by employers because they are needed in the workplace for example if you need to update your line manager or other colleagues you need to clearly describe and explain your progress and problems.

Attitudes

• Hard Working - Employers want hard working employees because it means they will complete the tasks and work they need to do within the deadlines for example an employer does not want a worker that does not meet standards of work ethic and does not do the work asked of them.

• Independent - This attitude is valued by employers because workers are expected to do the work without constant help and attention from others and are able to solve problems on their own. Employers don't want to be "spoon feeding" their employees.
